Description
The showey tarweed flower,madia elegans, is large and beautiful, fringed, bright yellow, and often with a magenta center. The foliage is aromatic. The flowers curl up by mid-morning, open in the late afternoon and stay open all night. It is usually 4-5 ft tall. The seed is a small sunflower seed that attracts many birds. The aromatic scent attracts insects. The wildflower is native to the Pacific Northwest.
