Description
This is the Wenatchee River (named after the Wenatchi Tribe) just before it empties into the Columbia River in Wenatchee, Washington. The bridge in the background is the railroad (BNSF) Over Wenatchee River. It was built in 1899 by Fort Pitt Bridge Works of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This railroad bridge has a variety of spans, but its pin-connected Warren through truss span is most noteworthy.
The Apple Capital Recreational Loop circles the Columbia River between Wenatchee and East Wenatchee. On the Wenatchee side, the loop travels through four riverfront parks (Wenatchee Riverfront Park, Walla Walla Point Park, the Horan Nature Area, and the Wenatchee Confluence State Park) and crosses the Odabashian Bridge (US 2). Boat docks, swimming holes, fishing spots, sculptures, camping, picnic areas, sports fields, wetlands and open spaces are enjoyed by all. On the East Wenatchee side, the trail runs along the bluffs, crossing ravines on tight hairpin turns and short 6% grades. The Porter's Pond Nature Area and the Jude's Oasis are points of interest on the east side. The trail then crosses back to the Wenatchee side by the use of the bike/pedestrian/utility bridge. The loop is 10 miles and covered with asphalt. Joining the recreational loop are asphalted trails the lead down the river towards Rock Island, WA and up river to the Rocky Reach Dam.
The Wenatchee Valley is an amazing place to visit and live. The Apple Capitol Recreational Loop is used all year round by visitors and residents alike.

I like this in black and white, Mellissa - it looks almost infrared and I love the contrasts. l/f
